Small Update

Lornian Reiver of Magon Karon

Haven't been able to get much concrete progress on the things of an Alba nature for ages, but thought I'd get a note down on what progress has been made.

The work on the campaign has moved on a couple of small steps  as far as the organisation and rules for the bigger picture is concerned, but not any on the maps but I should rectify this over the next couple of weeks.

Some small progress on troops (figures) for the Lornian armies has been made, concentrating on the Northern Lornian troops mainly but again more sorting out figures and so on.

I've gone through the mass of material that I produced fore Alba and going through it after a fair number of years, it was like discovering it all over again, which was like coming home. I did see that I was not happy to reproduce the vast proportion of it as I feel it is not in a state to publish or really reproduce as it stands. The bulk of the material being hand written ( in my rather stylised script that I did back then) and drawn and a big amount of it is showing the signs of age.

The upshot of this is that I will need to re-do the bulk of it in a form I'm happy with. This will need to be planned out and see what is worth re-doing and what can be discarded and what re-done. This will need to be revisited, but there is every chance that other than the map project, which stands by it's self, the focus will be, for obvious reasons (at least to myself) the Empire of Lorn.

The main drive which has had tangible results to date, has been on the book. A plot line has been sorted out and the majority of the characters have been decided upon. The opening chapter has been set both in location and structure so I aim to get busy with some writing over the next few weeks to actually get some words down and get this going.

Steps to a Goal

I have now taken the first steps to doing something concrete.

I have finally got around to collecting all the old files, maps and folders together and seeing what was what and have gone over the material at hand.

There is a lot there but not as much as I originally thought. It seems a lot more than I had realised was in my head rather than being written down.

The first thing I am going to do therefore is to get some notes down on what I can still remember that isn't already. That unfortunately won't take too long.

I have also made steps towards organising the solo campaign, but early days there too.

Musings on Strategic Level

Still no progress to report, but have been having thoughts on all sorts of topics.


Still planning on starting a Solo Wargames campaign, probably to be set in the northern realms, but need to get pen to paper on that one. The mechanisms for gaming are just about in place but still in the early stages just yet.


I have also been thinking seriously about putting pen to paper perhaps in a more meaningful way, by way of a book. That will be a long term project, but I'm determined to give it a good try. See if there is truth in the adage that everyone has a least one book in them.


Have also been thinking about being creative in another way, namely artwork. Probably in the way of illustrations rather than anything too grandiose but this one might need more in the way of a visiting muse to stir the blood, but again, you never know.


Anyway, watch this space....now and again at least to see if there has been any progress to report.

The Beginning

A new blog and a new beginning, an occaisonal diversion from the usual. A place for comments, thoughts and the usual bumph on a blog re wargaming, RPGs and fiction.

We'll see how it goes.
