Alba World Map

Not having huge amounts of time available, my updates on all things Lornian have been a bit remiss of late. I have recently managed to get the first 'draft' as it were of the colour version of the Alba World map

ALBA

The map shows the area largely used for previous D&D campaigns from many moons ago and encompasses the majority of the area with the Barriers. (The enitrety of that will be another map in the fullness of time).


Having got this map done it can now form the bases of future, more detailed maps which all help delineate the concepts.


A illustration of this is the map produced detailing the area to be used for my Solo Campaign for the Northern theatre of the War of Rulership.

Things start to take a bit of shape.


The other progress I've made is again a tidy up of an old map which details the various provinces and Dukedoms etc of the Lornian Empire which should be complete shortly.

In the Beginning....

The World of Alba

The map of Alba that I used as the basis of all that came after. The main continents are depicted in outline and a grid super-imposed over to delineate the sub maps which go into more detail of the relevant area.


There are a total of 169 of these sub-maps, some with more detail than others. Now that I have the technology, technology that I would have died for when I was making these maps, I can look at resurrecting the maps, repair damage and wear and tare and update and in some cases complete the maps that have been done to date.

Steps to a Goal

I have now taken the first steps to doing something concrete.

I have finally got around to collecting all the old files, maps and folders together and seeing what was what and have gone over the material at hand.

There is a lot there but not as much as I originally thought. It seems a lot more than I had realised was in my head rather than being written down.

The first thing I am going to do therefore is to get some notes down on what I can still remember that isn't already. That unfortunately won't take too long.

I have also made steps towards organising the solo campaign, but early days there too.

Musings on Strategic Level

Still no progress to report, but have been having thoughts on all sorts of topics.


Still planning on starting a Solo Wargames campaign, probably to be set in the northern realms, but need to get pen to paper on that one. The mechanisms for gaming are just about in place but still in the early stages just yet.


I have also been thinking seriously about putting pen to paper perhaps in a more meaningful way, by way of a book. That will be a long term project, but I'm determined to give it a good try. See if there is truth in the adage that everyone has a least one book in them.


Have also been thinking about being creative in another way, namely artwork. Probably in the way of illustrations rather than anything too grandiose but this one might need more in the way of a visiting muse to stir the blood, but again, you never know.


Anyway, watch this space....now and again at least to see if there has been any progress to report.
